15/10/2024
Ms. Tạ Thị Bích Thảo – Deputy General Secretary of VBMA attended the Forum on Asian Insolvency Reform (FAIR) organized by the World Bank, the Ministry of Law of Singapore, and the Insolvency Practitioners Association on September 26-27, 2024, in Singapore.
The VBMA representative participated in the panel discussion on the topic "Insolvency and New Sources of Capital" and shared insights about the Vietnamese corporate bond market, new developments in Vietnam's corporate bond market, and the policy responses of regulatory authorities over the past three years amid significant market fluctuations. VBMA's Deputy General Secretary also discussed the role of bondholder representatives, current challenges facing the development of Vietnam's corporate bond market, and proposed solutions to address these issues.
Experts and representatives from government agencies across Asia attended the forum to discuss and share issues related to bankruptcy law reforms in their countries, including plans to amend the Bankruptcy Law in Vietnam. Experiences from various countries indicate that bankruptcy regulations facilitate negotiations between creditors and debtors, allowing for extended repayment periods or the use of legal and financial measures to enable creditors to recover their loans. The forum also discussed the necessity of establishing a framework and procedures for out-of-court debt resolution to help parties negotiate debt restructuring.
