Government Bond Auction Result on January 03rd, 2024

On January 03rd, 2024, the State Treasury called for bidding a total of VND 5,000 billion of Government bonds, including 5-year bonds (VND 500 billion), 10-year (VND 2,000 billion), 15-year (VND 2,000 billion), and 30-year (VND 500 billion). However, none of these bonds was sold.

In 2023, the State Treasury issued VND 298,476 billion of Government bonds via auctions across various tenors from 5 to 30 years, completing about 74.62% of this year’s plan of VND 400,000 billion announced at the beginning of the year.

The winning value of 10 and 15-year bonds were the largest with VND 118,937 and VND 132,153 billion issued, respectively, accounting for 84.1% of the total value issued since the beginning of 2023. 5-year bond comes in third with VND 31,893 billion. The State Treasury had plans to raise VND 30,000 billion from 3-year bonds this year but did not offer this tenor for bidding.

The 2023 issuance plan has recently been adjusted by the State Treasury to VND 305,000 billion (including the issuance volume for Vietnam Social Security).
